About FabricNano

FabricNano ( FabricNano () is a seed-stage startup of >10 people. We revolutionise the manufacturing of biomolecules - bioplastics, biofuels, fragrances, flavours, medicines, and more. We use DNA nanotechnology to develop a biochemical manufacturing technology with increased yield, higher purity, lower synthesis costs, and drastically lower environmental impact. You would join a passionate team at an exciting early stage to help build our tech. FabricNano was incubated at Entrepreneur First (EF) in October 2018. Our investors include Hoxton VC (early backers of Deliveroo, Babylon Health, and Darktrace), Backed VC (investors in LabGenius), and angel investors Siraj Khaliq (partner at Atomico VC, founder of The Climate Corp, acquired for 1bn by Monsanto), Charlie Songhurst (300+ angel deals, ran M&A at Microsoft through the Skype acquisition), and more. We presented at the EF Demo Day (see the pitch here) in March of last year, then closed our seed round in July 2019, and we are currently preparing for series A funding.

You will join the CTO and the computational team in developing the data infrastructure used to accelerate the development of our technology. In particular, you will develop the data pipeline to efficiently store the data produced by our scientists, analyse it to extract the most valuable information, and communicate the relevant insight back to the scientists. Your ability to work with an interdisciplinary team and your technical know-how will be crucial in interpreting the results of our experiments and are absolutely essential in helping us to derive generalisable design principles. As the company’s first software developer you will have plenty of occasions to influence the company’s technical direction. The company will scale quickly once we receive our next round of funding, so that the position could soon grow into a more senior role depending on the candidate's interest and performance.

  • Develop and maintain our software backend.
  • Play a crucial role in our ability to make the most of our experimental and simulation data.
  • Collaborate with biophysicists, chemists, enzymologists and computational scientists in our team and partner organisations.
  • Contribute to a passionate, creative and open-minded work environment.
  • Help to develop a revolutionary biotechnology.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with data pipeline, including the relevant tools and software packages.
  • Flexible and focused team player.
